If I like "x," what else will I like?

Looking for books that match your interests? Try these recommendation sites:

  • If You Like Index
The Canterbury Public Library (New Zealand) has put together a fantastic list of reading recommendations based on preferences. The If You Like Index includes recommendations for people who like particular authors (Tom Clancy, Jackie Collins, John Grisham), series (Harry Potter), genres (historical fiction, mysteries, humorous novels) and more. Interesting sections include "biographies about people triumphing over adversity," "stories about animals" and "westerns for those who don't necessarily like westerns."

  • RatingZone
Strives to make accurate, personal book recommendations based on your current preferences. Once you've rated 25 books (on a scale of 1 to 10), the site delivers a handful of "quick picks." It then compares your ratings to the entire database (updated nightly) for more detailed results. The guide is based on a patent-pending recommendation system that boasts 94% accuracy.

  • Book Stores
Try searching big bookstores like Amazon.com for one of your favorite books. Some will tell you that buyers of book x also purchased books y and z.
